German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat) Dog

Mena the Dog needs a home

COURTESY POST FOR THIS LOVE BUG:  This one-year old Shepherd mix (spayed and up to date on vaccinations) is an empathic love bug who was rescued from the county shelter on her ‘last day’ from the small non-profit NoWorriesMovement. She is currently in a temporary foster home with 2 dogs and a cat and loving it! But we only have until February to find another foster or FURever home.

She is that rare sort of pup who is so loving and thoughtful, you will easily become the favorite ‘person’ in her life. She may even sit in front of the front door and look at you with googly eyes, protesting your departure when you need to leave the house.

She loves walks on the grass or playing in the sand with her foster brother and sister. When she is all pooped out from playing, she enjoys a good leg massage and belly rub. She has superhero powers and is able to look into your soul and feel what you’re feeling. Really, you have to come see this for yourself! Mena is a spunky girl full of life, so having a family to match her energy would be best! She is a little iffy around cats in her foster home, but that may change with time. She is often too busy playing with her fellow foster pups and loving on her foster parents to notice the cat anyway!

Considering how active and playful Mena is, it would be hard to believe that this girl was actually born with a deformity in her back legs that causes her to walk ‘differently’. She has been evaluated by a ortho-specialist and has been given the green light to continue to be a happy, healthy and normal pup. All she needs right now is a daily joint supplement for the rest of her life (yay, treats every day!). She could also benefit from swimming in shallow water (Mena loves splashing around in the bay) and leg massages (wouldn’t you want to give her those anyway)?

Please reach out to us about Mena. She is longing for her perfect home with the perfect fur parent(s) who will love her as much as we do. One where she is given the opportunity to make new friends, have access to softer surfaces when she walks and plays, has a limited amount of stairs, and is full of love and compassion.

Mena is a miracle and inspiration for many people already, could you be that person to give Mena her miracle?

Footnote/Small Print: NoWorriesMovement guarantees our adoptions. If for any reason you are unable to care for our animals any longer, we will gladly take them back instead of them returning to any shelter. For Mena in particular, while she has every opportunity to live a long and happy life, there is a possibility for her to develop arthritis due to the deformity in her back legs. In this case she can be reevaluated and options to correct this issue will be explored. We would be happy to, and prefer, to take her to our trusted vet who already knows Mena for this re-evaluation. However, there is also a possibility this may not happen and she will continue to take the joint supplements for the rest of her life as a preventive measure. The joint supplements we have her on are recommended by the vet and are what we believe will help prevent any issues in the future. The average cost for this supplement is about $15/month.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $400. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible.

Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.

Our adoption process begins with completing an application on-line. A phone screening will soon follow, and lastly a home visit will be conducted by our volunteers.

We show our dogs at adoption events every weekend! Check our our website to see where we'll be next!
